The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, P.C., brings decades of experience in municipal and federal politics to his role as a Senior Advisor at New West. In this capacity, he advises clients on strategic engagement with governments across Canada.

After serving three terms on Edmonton city council, Amarjeet entered federal politics as the Member of Parliament for Edmonton Mill Woods in 2015. In cabinet, he served as Minister of Infrastructure and Communities before later becoming Minister of Natural Resources. As infrastructure minister, Amarjeet oversaw the launch of a multi-billion-dollar national infrastructure program and negotiated bilateral agreements with provinces supporting major projects, public transit, and affordable housing. He also oversaw the planning and delivery of two of Canada’s most significant infrastructure projects: Montreal’s Champlain Bridge and the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

As Minister of Natural Resources, Amarjeet played a key role in advancing the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project, leading consultations with Indigenous communities and serving as a vital advocate for Alberta at the cabinet table.

Widely respected across the political spectrum, Amarjeet is known for his pragmatic approach to public policy and his ability to bring together governments, industry, and communities to advance economic development and community-building initiatives.
